Mermaid Physie has been operating on the Gold Coast since 2002. In that time we have welcomed hundreds of girls & woman, including generations of families through our doors. We are proudly associated with BJP Physie.
At Mermaid Physie our club culture thrives on collective pride, as everyone pitches in to create an inclusive, respectful, supportive & vibrant atmosphere!
We positively encourage sporting contest and we encourage participation. Children and adults enjoy participating in sport – they enjoy learning new skills and putting them to the test. Striving to be the best is important but it is not the only reason for competing.
BJP encourages all members and their families to be good sports. We aim to ensure that everyone gets a fair go and has fun. We believe in equality for all our members and we respect the rights, dignity and worth of everyone. You will find our association code of conduct HERE
Our club is an “Incorporated Association” & is facilitated by volunteers who have nominated & been elected into their positions. At Mermaid Physie, everyone is welcome.

Elyse Gregory | Ladies
Elyse’s precise physie technique and passion for teaching continue to be invaluable assets to the Mermaid Beach club. A State Champion, three-time National Champion, and featured performer on the BJP Syllabus DVD,
Elyse brings a wealth of experience to her classes. She is dedicated to helping her students of all ages refine their skills, build confidence, and enjoy the sport she loves. Join Elyse’s ladies’ classes in 2025 and experience the fun, confidence, and precision that make her classes so popular!
Mikayla Rees | Ladies
Mikayla is a proud third-generation physie girl and lifelong member of Mermaid Physie! She began her journey as a toddler and has grown into a highly respected senior competitor and ladies teacher. With two National Championships under her belt, Mikayla’s passion for physie is unmistakable.
Her love for the sport shines through in her teaching, inspiring and empowering her students every step of the way. Join her in the Ladies classes this year for fun, fitness, and fabulous physie!
Jo Croft | Seniors
Jo’s love for physie started at the age of 4 years old and has continued for nearly 40 years now!
Jo has had experience competing in physie at the highest level and has been a regular competitor & placegetter at the National Physie Finals at the Opera House is the 2023 O40’s Ladies National champion.
With a wealth of knowledge and experience, Jo has an enthusiasm and love for the sport which she feels honored to share in her Seniors class & the wider club as the President of Mermaid Beach Physical Culture.
Mia Taylor | 13 - 1st year Seniors
Mia is a two-time National Champion, nine-time State Champion, and a BJP Syllabus DVD performer! With an incredible eye for physie and a natural ability to connect with her students, she is a valued leader at Mermaid Beach Club.
Mia brings her passion, experience, and infectious energy to every class, inspiring the next generation of young women to shine. Join her in the 13–1st Year Seniors this season for an exciting year of growth, teamwork, and success!
Tahlia Cruice | 5 - 12 years
Tahlia is a two-time State Champion and National Representative whose love for physie shines in everything she does. She brings dedication, passion, and a keen eye for technique to her students, helping them grow and thrive.
With her fresh energy and commitment to excellence, Tahlia is excited to inspire the next generation on their physie journey. Join her in the 5–12 years class for a fun and exciting 2025 of learning and being inspired to shine!
Elise Alley | 5 - 12 years
Elise began her physie journey at 6 years old. With over 30 years of experience, she’s competed in national finals, earned state champion titles and part of multiple winning teams.
Elise has taught national and state champions and is passionate about helping students achieve their goals. With a keen eye for detail and knowledge from experienced mentors, she’s eager to inspire our junior members to reach their full potential.
Maiya Stevens | 3 - 4 years
Maiya is a four-time State Champion and National Placegetter who has been part of Mermaid Beach Physie since she was a young girl.
With a deep love for the sport, she is passionate about nurturing and inspiring our littlest Mermaids, helping them grow in confidence and skill while having fun along the way! Join her in the Little Mermaids 3–4 years class for a magical 2025 of fun and discovery!
